"Hello! I am Alexandra "Sandra" Buluc and I am the owner of Smart Start Day School. I received my Master's Degree in Education in 2011 and I started working in this field in 2009 for the Renton and Kent School District before opening my own preschool in January 2014. My passion for early education has led me to develop a successful kindergarten-preparatory program which teaches kids about the world, combines education with imagination, and helps kids explore their creativity and use leaps of logic in healthy ways.
When I am not teaching, you will find me enjoying the outdoors and exploring the Pacific Northwest with my husband and my dogs. My other passions include animals and rescue societies, nutritional health, yoga and traveling. In my 20s I visited most of Europe; my favorite location are Paris and Budapest."

"My name is Quishaun “Shonny” Figures and I am the SmartStart director. As a mother of a one year old and an educator, I recognize that a good child care facility plays a large role in the overall development of children and in the fabrication of their personality. My main goal is to provide a learning environment in which every child can reach their full potential and be prepared for school and for life.
Working with children and families has been my passion for the last 10 years. I received my BA in Psychology and Educational Studies from Carleton College in Northfield MN. While in college I studied abroad in Copenhagen Denmark for 6 months and worked at a multicultural preschool with teachers from various backgrounds; it was truly the best experience of my life.
As I embark on this new journey at Smart Start Day School I am most excited about extending my knowledge in the field of early childhood education as I pursue my M.A. in Early Childhood Administration and bring my years of experience to the teachers, children and families. To play a part in a child's growth and development is a huge responsibility and a privilege that I take very seriously. I am looking forward to providing our community with the highest quality of care and education."

"Hi! My name is Lindsey Roseland, and I am the Lead Teacher in the Prek classroom (Forest Rangers) at SmartStart. I received my B.A. in elementary education from the University of Northern Iowa. I began my teaching journey in New Jersey by teaching kindergarten. I quickly fell in love with early childhood, and the curious, energetic mind of the young child.
I am excited to use my experiences to prepare your child for their Kindergarten year. I believe every child can find success through love, support, and a fun, hands-on learning environment. I strive to set myself as a role model to my students and make them each feel loved and important! Together we will support your child academically, socially and emotionally as it is my mission to do whatever it takes to see my kiddos succeed!"

"My name is Breaun Pulalasi and I am a co-Lead Teacher in the Firefighters class. I was born and raised in Seattle, and although I have been here my whole life, there is still so much to explore. I have 2 beautiful, fun, and amazing daughters whom I adore. Teaching is one of the most rewarding career choices! I love that I get to be a part of the children’s growth, and it makes me happy to know I am making a difference in every child’s life! I have been working with children since 2013 and I have enjoyed every moment of it!"

"Hello! My name is Mary Brown and I am the Lead Teacher in the Astronauts (3.5-4.5 year old) classroom. I was born and raised in Seattle. I started work in child care at age 17, through a child psychology class taught at my school. I moved on to teaching swimming lessons and eventually working in early education centers, which led me to SmartStart! I am currently working towards my teaching degree with my ultimate goal being to teach at an elementary or high school level!"

"My name is Moon Quinn and I am the morning floater at SmartStart. I grew up in Indiana and Colorado. I decided to work in child care because there is never a dull moment! After my first child care experience in CO, I made a move to Seattle for a positive change. Working with kids continues to bring happiness and a sense of fulfillment. I am so grateful I have found SmartStart, where I can continue to positively impact lives!"

"Hi, I’m Pari Mizuta! I am native to the Seattle area, although I’ve lived in Hawaii and Oregon. I have 2 younger brothers and two cats. I am an afternoon float among the classrooms, and care for the veggie garden at SmartStart! I have a passion for channeling my energy into living things; whether it is plants or children!
I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in botany. Eventually I hope to finish my B.A. at WWU, and look forward to getting my Master’s Degree in Science in the near future."
